Presenting Complaint
Painful lesions, redness, and sensitivity on face for 3 years
34
Observations
1) Multiple red papules and pustules on both cheeks, chin, and forehead (inflammatory acne)
2) Darkened spots (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) and scarring on affected areas
3) Diffuse redness across both cheeks
Diagnosis
Acne Vulgaris Grade 2 with Post-inflammatory Hyperpigmentation and Scars
Treatment Plan
Combination of peels and Q-switched lasers:
- Peels help exfoliate dead skin cells, unclog pores, and reduce inflammation.
- Q-switched laser targets and break down pigment in the hyperpigmentation and potentially stimulate collagen production for scars.
Microneedling Radiofrequency (MNRF): This minimally invasive procedure uses fine needles to deliver radiofrequency energy into the skin, promoting collagen production and improving the appearance of scars and skin texture.
Hydration injections: These injections deliver hyaluronic acid into the skin, improving hydration and plumpness, which can benefit overall skin health and appearance.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP): PRP injections utilize the patient's own blood platelets, rich in growth factors, to stimulate collagen production and potentially improve scar appearance and overall skin rejuvenation.
Additional Notes
1) This treatment plan is individualized and may be adjusted based on the patient's response and progress.
2) It is important to manage expectations, as treating acne and its associated scarring often requires a combination of modalities and patience.
3) Consistent sunscreen use is crucial to prevent further hyperpigmentation and protect the skin during treatment.
4) Regular follow-up appointments are essential to monitor progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed.
